WikiNE:About
WikiNE is a free, collaborative and web-based repository of research-based information related to the North East Region of India. Encompassing 8 states of India, the north east region of India, also known as Northeast India, is known for wide diversity in terms of its geography, wildlife, demographics, cultures and economy. Although extensive research and studies have highlighted various multi-dimensional aspects of Northeast India to some extent and increasingly more users are publishing information about Northeast India in internet, very little amount of information are available in a well-organized manner that can cater to internet users in getting an easy access to required information. WikiNE is an initiative to drive information gathering through crowd-sourcing from users through a defined methodical process and then publishing these information in the web portal WikiNE.org. In this way, people across the globe will be able to explore more about this part of India on internet.
Vision
To connect the North-East region of India to rest of the world by creating an authentic, well-researched online information repository of the region through collaborative participation and insightful research initiatives.
Mission
The mission of WikiNE is to drive collaborative and research-oriented participation of users across the region to generate insightful and fact-based information of the region. This is more of a kind of anthropological research initiative to extract comprehensive and factual information of the region with respect to various categories, such as: History, Geography, Wlidlife, Demographics, Culture, Administration, Politics, Economy, Tourism and many more.
Objective
There are 3 basic objectives through which WikiNE envisions to connect Northeast India to rest of the World. These 3 objectives are:
- To create a ‘Collaborative Information Module’ in which information are collected through ‘collaborative participation’ of users across the globe who will contribute their research based articles about Northeast India in any categories.
- To verify the information through an established core committee of scholars from the region who will verify the information and sources.
- To publish the refined and verified content for the users on the website WikiNE.org for their usage.
Interested users those who want to submit/edit/suggest any content/article can send a request by email to articles@wikine.org.
